Manufacturers

Brand-neutral sourcing, compared on record

We are not tied to a single manufacturer, and we do not present ourselves as one brand's channel. Equipment is selected against your specification from the manufacturers capable of meeting it — and you see the comparison that led to the recommendation.

A note on how we describe manufacturer relationships

Vectorwatt sources equipment from leading OEMs and manufacturers. We do not claim authorised distributor, dealer, channel partner or agent status for any brand. Where a specific authorisation exists for a given scope, it is stated in that quotation and can be evidenced on request. The categories below describe the manufacturer types we source from — not endorsements, and not a claim of association with any particular company.

Sourcing categories

Manufacturer types we buy from

Across each category we maintain an enquiry list broad enough to produce a genuine comparison rather than a single offer with two token alternatives.

  • 01

    Transformer Manufacturers

Oil-filled, dry-type and cast-resin manufacturers across distribution and power ratings, including specialist inverter-duty and furnace-duty builders.

  • 02

    Switchgear & Breaker OEMs

MV and LV switchgear, vacuum circuit breakers, ACBs, MCCBs and ring main unit manufacturers across common voltage classes.

  • 03

    Cable & Accessory Manufacturers

HT and LT cable mills plus jointing, termination and glanding system manufacturers with compatible accessory ranges.

  • 04

    Rotating Machine Manufacturers

LT and HT motor and alternator manufacturers, including flameproof, increased-safety and special-duty machines.

  • 05

    Drives, Automation & Instrumentation

VFD, soft starter, PLC, HMI, RTU and field instrumentation manufacturers, with harmonic mitigation and control accessories.

  • 06

    Power Quality & Backup Systems

UPS, battery, capacitor, reactor, active filter and stabiliser manufacturers for clean and continuous power.

  • 07

    Panel Builders & Fabricators

Qualified panel fabrication partners for HT/LT, PCC, MCC and APFC assemblies, audited on workmanship and testing discipline.

  • 08

    Substation Apparatus & Hardware

Isolators, arresters, insulators, structures, earthing materials, chargers and DC systems for switchyard scope.

Selection criteria

How a manufacturer is chosen for your scope

Six things decide the recommendation. Where they conflict — and they usually do — the trade-off is written into the comparison instead of resolved silently.

  • Compliance with the specification

The first filter is technical, not commercial. An offer that deviates from the required rating, standard, accuracy class or test regime is listed as a deviation — never quietly substituted.

  • Manufacturing and test capability

Type test certification, routine test facilities, and willingness to accept inspection or test witnessing where the project requires it.

  • Delivery credibility

A quoted lead time is only useful if it holds. Order book position and past delivery behaviour weigh against a marginally lower price.

  • Service and spares reach

Whether the manufacturer can support the asset in your location — spares availability, service engineers, and the realistic route when something fails in year six.

  • Commercial terms

Price, payment terms, warranty scope and liability position, evaluated together rather than on the headline figure alone.

  • Total cost where it matters

For transformers, motors and drives, loss capitalisation and energy cost over the operating life often outweigh the purchase difference. Where that applies, it is put in the comparison.

If you have a preferred make

Many organisations standardise on particular makes for spares commonality, operator familiarity or an approved vendor list held by a consultant or a client. Tell us the constraint and we will quote to it directly. Where we think an alternative is technically better or materially cheaper, we will include it alongside — clearly marked as an alternative, never as a substitution.

If the original is no longer made

For obsolete and legacy equipment we identify the item from nameplate data, drawings or photographs, then propose an equivalent substitute with a written technical justification covering the differences in rating, dimensions, mounting and interface. You decide on the evidence rather than on an assurance that it will fit.

Send the specification and we will run the enquiry across suitable manufacturers, then return a technical and commercial comparison with the deviations stated.
